An overview of Digital Technology In Art: Join The Revolution

Last night saw Tec Hub host it’s first event of 2016: Digital Technology In Art: Join The Revolution. The event was a fascinating showcase of how far digital technology has come, and the impact that it’s having on artistic processes involved in everything from designing comic books, to creating interactive maps, to enhancing theatrical performances.

Some truly thought provoking points were made by our speakers last night, so we thought we’d share some of our favourites with you.

One of the main themes that came out of the evening was that digital technology is not a replacement conventional technology, rather they should be used in conjunction:

There was a great demonstration from Marcus Pullen on using software such as Sketchpad and Affinity designer, and the processes he uses when designing comics:  

He then went on to explain how digital technology is helping to jump the boundaries between different genres of art:

Daniel Hill spoke about the impact digital technologies can have on theatre productions:

And murmurs of interest rippled around the room when he raised questions about what should be considered theatre or cinema:
